Since 2005 Joel had been recording the "Therapy Session" demos to recruit band members. It started out as acoustic demos released on myspace, but after being pegged as a "singer songwriter" Joel started doing what he could with the little money, equipment and space to try to convey the sound he was going for. He bought a base guitar, a decent electric guitar, a snare drum and a cheap casio keyboard. He recorded the "One Pill at a Time Demos" which he released for free or donation to the public in 2006. It was 11 songs, some of which would eventually be recorded and produced in full for the 2009 debut album "Burning Bridges & Building Walls".

Joel used these demos to recruit band members. He got the attention of violinist Fiona Pulskamp and recorded the "Happiness Demo's".

These sets of demos helped get the attention of friend guitarist/mulit instrumentalist Brant Nolan who helped Joel with some recording advice and co-produced and performed on "Building Houses". This was the first release by Therapy Session not labled as "Demos" because Joel and Brant agreed they were actually a finished product.

When these were first released, they were given out for free on a CD-R in a cardstock sleeve with a lyric booklet featuring artwork by Joel Michalak. You'll have to provide your own card stock and CD-R but we're still giving away these songs for free.
